LG recalls Umbrane second edition smartwatch due to hardware glitch

The roll back of the device is not only a big blow for LG, but also for Google

Mumbai: Just a week after the launch of LG’s Umbrane second edition smartwatch, the company has recalled the 4G-enabled android wearable due to an ‘unspecified’ hardware issue.

According to several media reports, LG are not sure if the sales of the smartwatch will be re-started in future. Apparently, there is a hardware issue in the watch, which affects day-to-day functionality of the device.

The company said in a statement that they have taken a decision to stop sales of the Umbrane Smartwatch, as the nature of the issue is quite complicated.

Surprisingly, this decision comes shortly after the second edition of the Smartwatch was rolled out via AT&T and Verizon Wireless for pre-order on November 11.

The second edition of the watch garnered a lot of attention after the success of its predecessor, which was launched in May 2015.

Apart from that, the device also sports a lot of first-time features like its resolution, which is at 480X480 Pixels, and the highest on any Android wearable till date.

The roll back of the device is not only a big blow for LG, but also for Google. This watch was promoted as the first Google Android Smartwear to feature built in cellular connectivity.

As of now, Google has not commented anything regarding the roll back of this Smartwatch.
