Warangal set for Lok Sabha bypoll today

All arrangements are in place for the Warangal Lok Sabha bypoll
WARANGAL: All arrangements are in place for the Warangal Lok Sabha bypoll to decide the fate of 23 candidates. While all major political parties have taken the bypoll as a matter of prestige and have extensively campaigned to convince the voters, Independent candidates pin their hopes on split vote. For the first time in the country, the EVM machines would feature photographs of the candidates.
The Election Commission has issued orders to all polling officers to welcome the first voter of the day at their respective centres with a flower. Polling will begin at 7 am and end at 5 pm. A total of 15,09,671 voters are eligible to cast their votes in the seven Assembly constituencies, of which 7,52,293 are women and 7,57,231 men.
As many as 1,778 polling stations have been set up in Station Ghanpur, Palakurthy, Parkal, Warangal East, Warangal West, Wardhannapet and Bhupalpalli.
Ms Karuna said that, “1,974 polling officers, 2,008 assistant polling officers and 738 micro observers have been deployed for the polling. Poll slips were already distributed to 97 per cent of voters. For the 20,000 voters who were delivered the slips, they can take the slips from the booth-level officer at polling station itself.”
