Tabletops may sport touchscreens soon

A Kochi-based Startup has come up with smart tables which use computer touchscreens as tabletop
Kochi: The next time you dine at your favourite restaurant, the table on which you rest your hands may also display the menu card and allow you to make an order. Or when you sit with your banker, car dealer or the front office manager in a hotel across the table, just watch if the table top exhibits their offers or products.
A Kochi-based Startup has come up with smart tables which use computer touchscreens as tabletop.
The ‘Mashinga Table’ is the first product from Mashinga Tech founded by Kochi-based entrepreneurs K.R. Sreekumar, Y. Nijil and Nidal Rashid, alumni of Cochin University of Science and Technology.
The table incorporates NFC (near-field communication) technology which makes it possible to establish connection between mobile phone/tablets by just placing it on top of the Mashinga Table.
Its advantages do not end there; Mashinga comes with a stylus pen similar to an I-pad plus which could be used for writing and drawing on the table top during a discussion.
The table comes at a default size of 42 inches, uses multi-touch technology which enables many people to operate at a time as the device could recognize up to 50 touch points at the same time. The screen of the table is made with “toughened glass” which makes it scratch-resistant.
Though similar technologies are used in some international schools for teaching purposes, Mashinga Table is much less expensive with a starting price of Rs.2,00,000. The company also provides customer support service all over the country, both in terms of hardware and software.
The device which runs on Windows-10 platform by default could be purchased by pre-booking which enables the clients to customise the exterior design, including the table size and colour as well as configuration according to their preferences.
The company also offers customised app to the clients to cater to their respective industries. For example, for a car showroom, an app could be made to showcase different car models to prospective buyers in city politics.

“I had such great support from local citizens and business owners. It's exciting to think of what we can do together in the next four years. It is time to stop the petty politics. It is a time to rebuild America one town at a time. I am grateful to be able to have the opportunity to do that. If that helps any girl decide she wants to run for an elected position, I think that’s a great thing,” Samuel was quoted by the local news paper.
