Patil faces embarrassment as BJP objects to his reply

H.K. Patil faced embarassment over the reply he gave to a question pertaining to his ministry
Bengaluru: Rural development and panchayat raj minister H.K. Patil faced embarassment over the reply he gave to a question pertaining to his ministry in the Legislative Council on Friday.
Mr Mruthyunjaya Jinaga of BJP had asked about non-payment of honorarium to retired and newly appointed gram panchayat members. However, the reply given by the minister pertained only to Ballari district and that too had mistakes. Mr Jinaga pointed out that the minister had given details of one district and not of the state.
Opposition leader K.S. Eshwarappa slammed the minister for reading out a reply given by officials. “Let the government admit that it's treasury is empty and it is unable to pay honorarium to GP members,” he said. Mr Patil admitted the mistake and agreed to furnish details on Monday. He said the dues pertained to BJP government’s tenure but the present government was making the payments.
BJP protests teachers’ salary delay:
Five BJP members staged a dharna in the Legislative Council on Friday protesting against the delay in furnishing a reply to a member. During question hour, Mr Arun Shahpur of BJP asked about the delay in paying salary to teachers and the reasons for it. Primary and secondary education minister, Mr Kimmane Ratnakar said he would require more time to reply since he had to collect details since 2006. This angered Mr Shahpur who entered the well of the House in protest.
He said the minister had given a similar reply in March.
