Nellore still under water

Several trains still remain cancelled
Hyderabad: Several villages in Nellore and Chittoor districts still remain under water, even as some trains were restored between Chennai and AP on Friday. Several trains still remain cancelled.
Officials are expediting work to fill up a 100-metre breach at Manabolu between Nellore and Gudur. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Nellore, Chittoor and Kadapa districts. Several ministers are supervising the relief operations.
After the survey, Mr Naidu said, “Let us stand united and help each other.” In Tirupati, water from overflowing canals, that have been narrowed by encroachments, entered houses. In Nellore district, 973 villages were affected by the rain and officials listed 3.7 lakh families who needed to be given rice.
