Mysuru mayor Heckled by Congress workers
He was gheraoed by Congress party members for postponing the elections
Mysuru: Mr B.L. Bhyrappa, the newly elected Mayor of the BJP-JDS coalition in Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) was reportedly gheraoed by Congress party members for postponing the elections to the four MCC standing committees at MCC Council Hall, here on Friday.
Mr Bhyrappa reportedly justified the move to cancel the elections saying there was no quorum. After this, when Mr Bhyrappa entered his chamber, he was locked in by Congress members who staged a protest in front of his chamber and even got a gas stove and prepared tea. The Congress members alleged that he should have at least conducted the meeting. The agitating leaders only dispersed after the intervention of jurisdictional KR police.
Mr Bhyrappa while speaking to mediapersons, termed the behaviour of Congress members in the Chief Minister’s hometown, as “uncivilised and unfortunate and a shameful act not only against him but against people of the city.” However Mr Bhyrappa has not registered any complaint so far, Mysuru City Police Commissioner Mr B Dayanand clarified to Deccan Chronicle.
