Kerala: Ex-cop runs a parallel station

Justice Muhammed Mustawue asked the DGP to file a detailed statement on Tuesday
Kochi: Director-General of Prosecutions T. Asaf Ali on Friday submitted before Kerala High Court that retired cop Sunil Jacob is running a parallel police system in Kochi.
“The private 'Spy Detective Agency' is involved in settling several cases. He opened his agency in the Empire building near Kerala High Court opposite to the central police station,” the DGP said.
Considering the submissions, Justice Muhammed Mustawue asked the DGP to file a detailed statement on Tuesday.
The state police chief had received an anonymous letter against Mr Sunil Jacob, who retired as Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kochi, and the allegations against him were found to be true.
Pursuant to the letter, the police conducted an investigation and unearthed incriminating
evidence against him. Three police officials, Anshad, Shine and Lancelot, were transferred from the Kochi city police,” said Mr Aasf Ali.
It is learnt that Mr Sunil Jacob used his influence in the force and even managed to get copies of several case documents. According to the DGP, Mr Sunil Jacob, who was in Kochi city police for 20 long years, has links with several goons in the city as well as narcotic dealers. Ironically, the submissions were made on a petition filed by Mr Sunil Jacob against Thrissur Range IG M. R. Ajith Kumar seeking to restrain him from taking legal action against Mr Jacob and conducting surveillance or illegal raids on his house or his office.
