Hebbal Krishi Mela: Drone to help farmers assess yield
Bengaluru: On Day-2 of the ongoing Krishi Mela at the University of Agricultural Sciences (GKVK) Hebbal, farmers and students thronged in large number as there was no rain. With more than 600 stalls, this year’s Krishi Mela is showcasing the achievements by various progressive farmers, government agencies and private companies including Bosch.
The highlight of this year's Krishi Mela is a drone developed by the Bosch which can help farmers in numerous ways. According to the company officials, this drone can give a clear picture about the expected yield through a specialised application. The drone captures pictures of the harvested area and data is analysed through the application and yield is estimated.
This drone can also be used for surveillance of harvested area, protection of crops from animals and birds, quality of yields, possible deceases etc. The drone costs anywhere between Rs 1 -2 lakh based on the quality of the equipment and applications used for analysis.
