Murder mystery of sarpanch Madhusudhana Rao solved in Guntur

Guntur: The Guntur police unravelled the mystery behind the hit-and-run accident in which Telugu Desam leader and AP State Sarpanches Association vice-president Kosana Mahusudhana Rao was killed on the spot.

Guntur urban west DSP, B. Srinivas Rao here on Friday said that a car hit an autorickshaw on November 13 and Madhusudhana Rao died on the spot in that accident. Autorickshaw driver D. Subba Rao, who was severely injured in the accident, later died on November 16 while undergoing treatment in the GGH.

He said several suspicions came about the accident. Hence, the police took the accident case as a challenge and finally resolved it by arresting a doctor and his car driver.

Mr Srinivas Rao said that doctors usually give life to the public but sadly in this accident, Dr O. Sivaram Prasad fled from the spot along with his car driver Sk. Rafi.

He explained that Dr Prasad, along with his driver Rafi, was going in their car AP 07BT7579, but they hit the autorickshaw in a bid to avoid collusion with a lorry in the opposite direction. The police found only half broken number plate without the number of car, which created lot of confusion to trace the car as police found AP07BT.

The police started investigation in which they found 9999 vehicles in the BT series in which 796 were cars. The police showed the broken number plate and other parts of car to the car showrooms and found the car as being Figo Ford. Later, police found 40 Ford Figo cars in the district out of which 34 were in Guntur city.

The police collected addresses of the owners of 34 cars, went to their houses and inquired about the accident. Dr Prasad hid his car and said that it went to a far off place. The police examined all cars but no evidence was found.

The police inquired about Dr Prasad and got information that his car was in a mechanic shed at Vijayawada. The police teams immediately plunged into action, took the doctor and the driver into custody for inquiry and the duo admitted about the accident. They added that with the fear of punishment, they did not reveal about the accident.

DSP Srinivas Rao said that the police took the case as a challenge and finally traced the accused. He added that police arrested the duo and seized the car. Guntur urban SP, Sarvasreshth Tripathi congratulated the police team for unravelling the mystery swiftly.
