Chaitanya had US dreams

‘We didn’t know he worked for Google and earned money,’ says kin

Hyderabad: Chaitanya’s suicide has come a huge shock for his family, who never believed that he could take such a step. A bold and straightforward youngster, Chaitanya, apart from his studies, was working for an online program by Google and earned Rs 15,000 per month.

He was keen on going to the US for higher studies ahead of his elder brother Vinay Krishna, who is currently in the process of going to the US after completing engineering. He would even help his brother and clarify his doubts. Chaitanya’s family members said that he was staying at a private hostel in Chennai as the college provided accommodation only for First Year students.

They said that he was a caring son and made sure that his parents were comfortable with what he did. On Thursday, while they were returning from office, his father had offered him to take the car but he refused saying that it would be difficult for his father to drive the bike due to the heavy traffic and dust. His father Mr Narasimha has been taking the Ayyappa Deeskha for the last 14 years. But this time, he was not interested in performing a grand puja.

“Though my uncle was not so interested, Chaintanya forced him to perform the puja with all family members. He would never let go of a chance to bring the family together. Many times he brought us together, but he left us in such a sad situation,” said his cousin Mr K.V.S. Murthy, who rushed from Amalapuram after getting the news.

“We did not know that he was working for a Google project and earned money. Shekar (the senior who allegedly ragged him) would even take this money. Had he shared even a word with us about his pain, we would have helped him.” said another cousin Mr B. Gopi, who arrived from Vijayawada. According to college officials they have an anti ragging cell and confidential mail box in which students could inform the institution about ragging but they have not received any complaint about ragging from this student.
