VM Sudheeran flays CPM’s ‘opportunism’
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president V M Sudheeran has flayed CPM for seeking support from rebel to get their Mayor elected in Kannur corporation. While terming the CPM move as political opportunism, the KPCC president said that his party was not in favour of illicit understanding to grab power.
He said K Sudhakaran had done no wrong in Kannur and added “had we compromised on our position, we could have got one or two more municipalities.”
The Congress district leadership’s refusal to accept the demands raised by P K Raghesh was absolutely correct. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala have also endorsed the stand taken by the Kannur district leadership on Kannur corporation Mayor issue. It rightly rejected the demand for change in UDF mayoral candidate at the last moment.
Chennithala said the local leadership decision not to accept rebel support for Mayor post was absolutely correct.
There are no differences in the party on the issue of Sudhakaran’s leadership. The local leaders need not succumb to the pressure being exerted by rebels, he said.
