Prime minister’s gold deposit scheme gets just 400 grams!

Industry representatives RBI, BIS discussed ways for opening more centres for gold testing

New Delhi: The gold deposit scheme launched amid fanfare two weeks ago by the Centre has so far attracted only 400 grams, according to Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).

Industry representatives including from the Reserve Bank, Bureau of Indian Standards, MMTC and private banks on Thursday met economic affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das and discussed ways for opening more centres for gold testing.
