Kiss of Love: Cops say couple admits to crime

They used to lure young women mainly by offering jobs with attractive returns

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: While the police received clinching evidence about the involvement of more persons in the online sex racket, the ‘Kiss of Love’ activist couple, Rahul Pasupalan and Reshmi Nair, were learnt to have confessed that they believed in free sex and that they were in need of money.

Top police sources said that it was a clear case of sex trade, paedophilia and child pornography indulged in by Rahul and Reshmi.

“The police busted the gang after tracking their activities digitally for about two months. WhatsApp messages between Reshmi and key accused Abdul Khader and their telephone conversations and messages indicated their nexus with the rackets. It is strongly suspected that the two had been involved in such activities for quite some time,” said a senior police officer.

The police also received evidence of Reshmi wooing many young girls, including minors, by offering career in modelling.

There were reports that a financial crisis following film ventures had forced the couple to look for easy money options. Kingpin Abdul Khader alias Akbar hailing from Kasargod facilitated this.

Meanwhile, the 20-odd mobile phones and one tablet computer gave leads to the police regarding the involvement of more persons as well as other similar rackets operating out of the state.

They used to lure young women mainly by offering jobs with attractive returns. Once trapped, the girls are blackmailed. The two sisters from Bangalore, including a minor, who were rescued from the gang were also lured by offering them jobs.

The police also suspect the involvement of Joshi, the accused in the Paravoor sex scandal case, in the racket. The police team will seek the custody of some of the accused, including Rahul, on Friday for further quizzing.

A request of Rahul's parents for the custody of the six-year-old son of Rahul and Reshmi will be considered by the child welfare committee on Friday.
