Jacob Thomas stirs row, says he’s ‘swimming with sharks’
Thiruvananthapuram: DGP Jacob Thomas refuses to be cowed down by threats of government action. He posted a comment on the social media on Wednesday which said, “Swimming with the sharks, without being eaten. Will there be any protection ?”
The comment, an oblique reference to the massive corruption in government, came even as a government decision on initiating action against his public statements was pending.
There were also reports that the government may go soft on Mr. Thomas, who is presently Kerala Police Housing Construction Corporation chairman and managing director.
Apart from inviting a massive response on the social media (nearly 2500 likes, 500 shares and 400 comments), the remark triggered whispers in the corridors of police establishments on Thursday.
Last week also, Mr. Thomas had made a social media post asking what was the reply to a moral dilemma-- whether one should live for his career or for justice.
Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson told DC that the government was yet to take any decision on the matter. “It will take some time to take final decisions on such matters and a lot of procedures are involved,” he said.
State police chief T.P. Senkumar also maintained that he was yet to give his remarks to the government on the issue.
