Guru Nanak celebrations from November 21
Over 15,000 devotees will take part in the procession
Hyderabad: The Sikh community will celebrate the 546th Prakash Utsav (birth anniverary celebrations) of the first Sikh guru Guru Nanak Dev from November 21 to 25.
Over 15,000 devotees will take part in the procession. The Guru Granth Saheb, the holy scripture of the Sikhs, will be carried on a decorated vehicle along with Nishaan Sahebans (religious flags) to the accompaniment of shabad keertans.
Nagar keertans will be taken out from Gurudwara Saheb, Secunderabad, on November 21 and Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Marg, Afzalgunj on November 23 at 4 pm.
On the Prakash Utsav on November 25, a Vishaal Deewan (mass congregation) will be held at Nizam College grounds from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm.
The major attraction of the procession will be the display of Gatka, the famous Sikh martial art form, and sword exercises by Dashmesh Kalgidhar Jatha, The Dashmesh Kalgidhar Jatha from Amritsar will also exhibit their Gatka skills.
Keertan darbars will be organised on November 24 at Gurudwara Saheb, Secunderabad, from 7.30 pm to 11 pm. At the Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Afzalgunj, the keertan darbar will be organised on November 25 from 9 pm to 2.30 am.
