Passenger thinks cab driver is Muslim, beats him in US

Reports claim no arrests have been made

London: An Uber taxi driver claimed on Wednesday that he was attacked by a passenger who thought he was a Muslim.

Samson Woldemichael, a Christian from North Carolina, says he was attacked and threatened while behind the wheel of his cab.

Woldemichael, who has lived in the US for eight years, said the passenger started to get increasingly aggressive while approaching the destination – his home, 10 miles away, metro.uk said.

The alleged incident climaxed when the passenger started to rain down blows on Woldemichael’s head.

He said: ‘He asked me if I was a Muslim, and I said I was not a Muslim. I was driving and he hit me.’

Woldemichael told WBTV: ‘I told him in the first place I was not a Muslim, but it’s not right to generalise people and do that. ‘He was saying he would shoot me. He was acting like he was armed.’

Reports claim no arrests have been made, but Woldemichael hopes police can trace the Uber customer through the app.
