Virat Kohli backs Wriddhiman Saha, the batsman
I really like his attitude. He’s a very hardworking cricketer, says Kohli
Despite the growing concerns in Wriddhiman Saha’s capabilities as a batsman at Test level, skipper Virat Kohli has backed the abilities of the keeper with the willow. “I really like his attitude. He’s a very hardworking cricketer. He’s willing to do anything the team requires. He’s a brilliant keeper and very gutsy with the bat.
“He’s still finding his feet in Test cricket. He’s confident of his keeping, I’m sure of that. But when he becomes confident of his batting, with the amount of runs he scores and the impact he makes, he will be that sort of perfect No 6, No 7 at times for us. He’s someone I see can handle pressure situation well,” said Kohli.
Citing Saha’s gritty in Sydney, Kohli said: “In the last innings of the Test, he hung in there for a very long time and played the fast bowlers really well. “He’s someone who can handle every sort of condition and attack that is in front. When he gets more confident with the bat, you will see him developing into a batter more than a batsman-keeper for the team as well in the near future.”
