Rain hits 34 mandals in Kadapa
Anantapur: About 39 mandals were hit by incessant rains and floods in Kadapa district for the past four days. The timely reaction and relief measures by the district administration had averted major loss, the district in-charge mi-nister Ganta Sreenivasa Rao said.
During a review meet with the district officials at Kadapa over the loss occurred due to heavy floods, the in-charge minister observed eight persons were killed due to heavy rains including four children after an old building collapsed in Rajampeta division.
An NDRF team would be sent to Kadapa district for relief measures. Referring to steps taken at Hudhud hit Vizag, the state government would provide similar relief to the victims in the Ray-alaseema.
“Chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu order-ed relief measures similar to Hudhud victims in the Rayalaseema reg-ion,”he said.
The official report reve-aled nearly 9,563 hectares of outstanding crops and 719 hectares of horticulture were damaged in various parts of the district. About 476 houses were damaged due to heavy rains. Referring to power disruption, the minister observed that 68 villages faced power interruption and restored in a day.
