Naidu creating hurdles in Telangana projects, claims Harish Rao
Mr Rao said Mr Naidu would earn the wrath of the people if he tried to stall irrigation projects
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has accused AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of creating obstacles in the construction of irrigation projects in the state, especially the Kalwakurthy lift irrigation scheme.
Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao said that though the project, which will provide succour to Mahbubnagar district, was cleared in the undivided state, the AP government had lodged a complaint against it with the Krishna Board on November 7.
“The AP CM says Telugus in either state are one, both states are like his two eyes, but in reality he is a honey-smeared sword. The irrigation project would help drought-prone Mahbubnagar and check migration by providing irrigation to 3.65 lakh acres. Two TMC of water will be utilised for drinking purposes,” he said.
Mr Rao said Mr Naidu would earn the wrath of the people if he tried to stall irrigation projects in the state. He also questioned TS TD leader E. Dayakar Rao on his stand on the project. “Dayakar Rao travels around the state seeking votes for his party, but his own party chief works against the interests of the state’s people. Why is he keeping silent,” he asked.
Mr Rao said the TS was only utilising its share of 501 TMC of surplus waters. “We don’t have projects to utilise our share. Hence we took up Palamuru lift irrigation and Dindi projects. We are trying to complete projects proposed by the TD and the Congress governments,” he said.
