Centre allots 1.93 lakh houses for Andhra Pradesh; Telangana cries foul
Hyderabad: The Centre allotted 10,290 houses for the urban poor in Telangana state and 1.93 lakh to Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, triggering a huge row here. The Telangana government alleged that the Centre was discriminating against the state, and vowed to take up the issue in the forthcoming session of Parliament.
TRS MP Balka Suman said that the allocations proved that the Union urban development ministry headed by M. Venkaiah Naidu was discriminating against Telangana.
“We have no objection if Andhra Pradesh is allotted more houses. The Centre should give the same priority to Telangana. While states were allotted 2,17,748 houses, AP got 1.93 lakh houses, or nearly 75 per cent. This clearly shows how AP is favoured. Is this not discrimination?” Mr Suman asked.
