BJP, Congress fight over water projects

Opposition BJP and ruling party members were involved in heated arguments in the Legislative Council on Wednesday
Bengaluru: Opposition BJP and ruling party members were involved in heated arguments in the Legislative Council on Wednesday over two controversial drinking water projects-Yettinahole and Kalasa-Banduri.
Congress member Ivan D’Souza asked a question on Yettinahole drinking water project and wanted to know the cost of the project and availability of water. He remarked that though then Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda initiated the project, the BJP was playing politics over it.
BJP members Kota Srinivasa Poojari and Y.A. Narayanaswamy objected to the remarks of the Congress member and alleged that it was the Congress party which was politicising the issue. Forest Minister Ramanath Rai who was in the House, criticised Mangaluru BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel for resorting to a padayatra opposing the Yettinahole project.
Intervening during the course of the discussion, Chairman D.H. Shankarmurthy directed Water Resources Minister M.B. Patil
not to answer the
question of Mr D’Souza since he was giving a lecture on the matter instead of asking questions.
