Amaravati design eco-sustainable: APCRDA
Vijayawada: APCRDA commissioner N. Srikant on Wednesday said that the capital city Amaravati has been designed to ensure ecological sustainability.
Mr Srikant was addressing students of the School of Planning and Architecture at the seminar conducted on the occasion of World Town Planning Day on Wednesday at the university campus in Nidama-nuru. The topics discussed were housing regeneration and strengthening communities.
Speaking about planning of Amaravati, Mr Srikant emphasised the need for long-term plans while building cities so that future generation’s needs are met.
He also stressed the need for town planning for a model city. Earlier, Head of the department of Housing at SPA, Delhi and chairman of Urban Arts Commission Prof. P.S.N. Rao, HoD, planning at Vijayawada, SPA, Abdul Razak Mohammed and others addressed the students.
About 25 speakers from the town planning community addressed the students on varied topics at the technical sessions of the seminar. Dean and Professor in department of architecture, SPA, Vijayawada, S. Ramesh and others were present.
