10-year-old becomes youngest Indian to speak at TEDx New York
Ishita Katyal from Pune became the youngest Indian to speak at TEDx New York and delivered a speech on ‘What do you want to be now?”. Her speech challenged the system and our society which thinks children are too small to make any difference.
She is a student of Vibgyor High in Balewadi, Pune.
Wondering how her journey began?
Earlier Ishita visited TEDx Pune and liked their session and asked the organisers if she could be part of their team as well.
The organizers agreed but Ishita was asked to clear two rounds in order to qualify for TEDx.
She cleared both the rounds to become the youngest organiser of TEDx Youth events in Asia-Pacific region, said Ishita's mother Nancy as reported by Indian Express.
She orangised the TEDx event in her school and later was called to speak in New York and she grabbed the opportunity.
Ishita's mother also said that her daughter is very clear about what she wants and when she was called to New York, she didn't hesitate. The whole trip was sponsored by TEDx.
In fact when the day came and Ishita stood on the stage, her mother was nervous as Ishita was the youngest and has to speak and address the people without holding any paper.
Like any other person, Ishita was nervous but when the event ended, she felt it was just like she dreamt of.
