Vigilance probes plot to protect Biju Ramesh’s buildings
He also alleged that the concerned officials conspired with Mr Ramesh
Thiruvananthapuram: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) has initiated a quick verification (QV) into the alleged conspiracy by officials of city corporation and archaeology department with hotelier Biju Ramesh for not demolishing the illegal construction near Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
Sources said VACB special investigation unit-II has been entrusted with the QV on the basis of a petition by Kerala University syndicate member J. S. Akhil, a KSU leader.
Incidentally, the petition came up close on the heels of the bribery allegations raised by Mr Ramesh putting the government in a tight spot.
It says despite a government order to demolish illegal constructions near the temple way back in 2009, the corporation and archaeology department did not act.
He also alleged that the concerned officials conspired with Mr Ramesh, who owns Rajadhani Buildings near the temple, and made pecuniary gains by not demolishing the building.
Other respondents are those who held the posts of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation secretary and archaeology directors since 2009, former executive engineer of the corporation and other officials of the corporation and archaeology departments.
