Sri Chaitanya Star Kids High School staff flee after kid got stuck in lift
Hyderabad: Xainab’s family learnt of her death when a woman from the school’s neighbourhood called them. The woman came to the school after hearing the children screaming and found the child struck in the lift. She saw her mother’s number on her identity card and called them.
Immediately after the incident, the school management and the teachers went absconding. Syed Xainab Fathima Jaffery was the only daughter of Syed Ijaz Hussain Jeffery and Syed Tahseen Fathima Zaida.
After the birth of Xainab three and half years ago, Mr Hussain left for Dubai on work. Since then, Ms Tahseen and Xainab had been living at the former’s parents’ house in Saidabad.
Xainab and her cousin Raza Zaidi had joined Sri Chaitanya Star Kids High School in June 2015 in the playschool. “My child could have been saved had the school responded immediately and shifted her to hospital,” said Xainab’s grandfather Syed Hussain Abid Zaidi.
The family members also claimed that they had requested locals to inform parents of the other children to pick them up from the school as the school staff had fled.
