Karimnagar: Vemulawada is one of the prominent temple towns of Telangana. On an average, 30,000 devotees and pilgrims per day.
But, it has no garbage dumping yard, no sewage treatment plant and no grave yard. Consequen-tly, garbage piled up on its streets and at junctions is not lifted regularly. Sewage is released into the temple’s tank, polluting its water.
Dustbins filled up with trash, stinky drains and unclean roads welcome pilgrims of this temple town, touted as Dakshina Kashi. Roads become dump yards if it is a holiday. The town’s major sewage outlet enters the tank and a rivulet, Mulavagu, located on the outskirts.
