Customers unable to call Bescom helpline

Customers complain that the power utility’s helpline is seldom reachable

Bengaluru: Due to intermittent rains and maintenance work by Bescom, various parts of the city are experiencing frequent power cuts and customers complain that the power utility’s helpline is seldom reachable.

At present Bescom helpline has 30 lines and they are proving inadequate. About five months ago, N. Jayanti, general manager, customer relations (Bescom) had assured that 15 more lines will added to overcome the issue, but nothing substantial has been done.

When queried, she said, “It will happen, but will take some time. We have to shift the tech team to a new building and the opposite building is getting demolished now to make more space. In case people are not able to reach the helpline 1912, they can send in a SMS at 58888.” She also said that if there was a safety issue, the customers can WhatsApp to 94498 44640.

They can also send emails to Bescom or access our Facebook page, she added.

Niveditha B., a resident from HSR Layout said, “I tried calling Bescom on their helpline 1912 at least five times, but failed. So I contacted a friend of mine who is working with BESCOM. He sent me the contact of an Assistant Engineer. When I got in touch with him, he informed me about the issue and gave a specific time when power will be restored.”
