This oceanic University city looks as futuristic as can be

It runs off renewable marine energy and produces zero waste

A French architect has released his plan for an oceanic university city – and it looks like it’s something out of a time machine from the future and back. Known as the City of Meriens, this floating city will be built for marine research and is the brainchild of architect Jacques Rougerie.

Sporting a shape inspired from the manta ray, this structure is 2950 feet long and 1650 feet wide. It will have the capacity to house up to 7000 researchers, professors and students in its living quarters, classrooms, marine labs and leisure places. Moreover, it even has a lagoon in the back of the vessel to allow the deployment of research vessels.

Probably, the coolest part about this futuristic floating city is that it is designed to be completely sustainable – it runs off renewable marine energy and produces zero waste, according to Tech Insider.
