With web series exploring relationships and sexuality, have we finally come of age?

Mumbai: In a society where patriarchy looms at large and the very idea of sex and alternate sexualities is a taboo, it is heartening to see web series break the status quo. Be it Y-Film's 'Bang Baaja Baaraat' or MTV's 'The Big F', the shows have come as a breather as compared to the ideal sanskari family dramas. The latest set of shows are pushing the boundaries of story-telling and are evolving with the change in our consumption of media and entertainment.

Recently, 'The Big F' which focuses on the forbidden fantasies, featured a lesbian kiss. The episode titled 'I kissed a girl' revolved around a young fashion designing student, who is confused about her sexuality and is trying to live as per the norms of the big world.

These shows have become an instant hit as even Bollywood movies have not explored this uncharted territory. Thankfully, the internet is not under the purview of full-fledged censorship in India.
