Watch: Akshay Kumar's 'Airlift' is a grim reminder of the 1990 evacuation
Raja Menon's film revolves around the time when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait.
Mumbai: After the hard hitting teaser, the makers have released the trailer of Akshay Kumar's much awaited 'Airlift'. Directed by Raja Menon, ‘Airlift’ film is as simplistic as its title – Us vs Them. It is based on real incidents set in 1990 in Kuwait- the time of famous Gulf war when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait.
The film revolves around Akshay who plays the role of Ranjit Katyal, a wealthy and powerful Indian businessman who had always seen himself as a Kuwaiti and not Indian, but who with the help of the Indian government, safely evacuates 170,000 Indians back to their country. This was the largest and most successful evacuation attempted by any country in the world.
The film directed by Raja Krishna Menon is produced by Bhushan Kumar along with Nikhil Advani and Vikram Mehrotra. The film is slated to hit the theaters on January 22, 2016.
