There is no fallout here
One of the most anticipated games of the year is finally here and has already caused a number of people applying for sick leave on launch day, of course it’s Fallout 4.
Fallout 4 has been receiving a lot of flak from some of the more ‘hardcore’ members of the PC cadre regarding the distinctly “Last-Gen” textures. Well, frankly, the game has so much to offer, that while you play it, you will hardly notice the graphical downgrade. Moreover, Bethesda has done such an impressive job with the lighting and the music that you get immersed in this gorgeous rendition of post-apocalyptic Boston.
Without giving away any major plot details, the plot revolves around your quest to retrieve your kidnapped son. Along the way you meet some truly colourful character and a whole host of other completely vile and unsavoury personalities. You must weave through a web of lies and unravel the mystery behind the shadowy organisation known only as “The Institute”.
While the story mainly serves to act as a guide while you traverse the vast map, it is by no means riveting. Also, on the PC the fact that key customisation has been fairly gimped and that field of view is locked and very limited.
At the end of the day this is an open world action adventure game and Bethesda has managed to give us an extremely dense map with tons of things to do. You can set up your own settlements and go about scrounging for resources in the harsh wastelands in order to strengthen it and attract more survivors to it.
Everything that you can pick up in the world serves its purpose thanks to the magnificent crafting system. You can pick up any weapon, break it down to get the parts or transform it into your own agent of death. The wild is strewn with rare loot and side quests are abound no matter where you end up. The crafting system in Fallout 4 is one of the most in-depth in any game thus far.
All in all, Fallout 4 may not be the best-looking game or have a fantastic story, however, for people who love getting lost in the wilderness and just roam, this is the game for you.
With an intricate and impressive perk system and near infinite opportunities when it comes to crafting, this game has 200+ hours written all over it.
