Act on complaints against TRS, Congress tells CEO
Hyderabad: A Telangana Congress delegation, led by Nalgonda MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy on Monday met Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwaral to protest against the abnormal delay in attending to the party’s complaints that leaders of the ruling TRS were indulging in election malpractices in Warangal bypoll.
The Congress leaders said in response to their earlier complaints, they received a status report saying “orders are being awaited from the Election Commission”.
They told the CEO that it was not proper on the part of the authorities to send a status report which said that all the complaints have been forwarded to either the EC or to the departments concerned to seek their versions.
“If that is the case, what is the purpose of our complaints to the election authorities. This finally results in justice being denied due to the delay,” Mr Sukhender Reddy said.
He said that the Congress has submitted a fresh complaint that ministers have been indulging in large-scale violations by promising several things to lure voters, which is against election laws. The Congress leaders said that ministers K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao violated the electoral laws.
