Temple town under a sheet of water in Tirupati

Tirupati: The incessant rains in the past five days have inundated many low lying areas in the town, with water entering houses.

Postal Colony near Kapilatheertham was in knee-deep water and residents were forced to seek refuge on the rooftops. Municipal authorities took up distribution of food packets in the area.

Mangalam Gandhipuram, Auto Nagar and Erramitta are inundated. Tanks near Tirupati were full to the brim and irrigation officials are strengthening bunds to prevent breaching. Almost all the streets in the town were under a sheet of water, with canals overflowing due to the storm water.
