Andhra Pradesh puts bauxite mining on hold

Chandrababu Naidu was held at the new conference hall in the CM’s office

Vijayawada: The AP Cabinet late on Monday night decided to put on hold the controversial orders of the forest department that allowed bauxite mining in the Vizag Agency areas until the locals clear the proposal.

The orders had drawn intense protests from the locals. The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, was held at the new conference hall in the CM’s office.

In other decisions, the Cabinet appointed a committee of ministers to monitor relief operations during the current spell of heavy rains caused by storm conditions in the Bay of Bengal as well as the northwest monsoon.
