Wildlife trafficking in Chhattisgarh busted
Raipur: Chhattisgarh forest department has busted a wildlife trafficking network, supplying tiger hides to China, by arresting three people. A team of forest officials arrested three youths in Kondagaon in Bastar division a couple of days ago following a tip off by their counterparts in Maharashtra that the smugglers, part of an international wildlife trafficking racket, was trying to channel a tiger skin to China after killing the big cat in their state.
“Three youths have been arrested on charges of trafficking tiger skin. A high level probe is on to uncover the racket”, principal chief conservator of forest (wildlife), Chhattisgarh, A.O. Boaz said. The three arrested youths have spilled the beans that the route of smuggling of the wildlife remains hide to China.
