You saw the 'Dilwale' trailer, now get ready for the SRK-Kajol romantic song
Mumbai: Rohit Shetty’s ‘Dilwale’ trailer was released with much noise on social media on November 9 in the presence of the entire star cast. The film that has a huge star cast that includes Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Boman Irani, Sanjay Mishra, Varun Sharma, Kabir Bedi, Johnny Lever, Vinod Khanna and Nawab Shah is all set to release on December 18.
Till date, the trailer has garnered over 12 million views making its rival, 'Bajirao Mastani', look like a small competitor. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film teaser was launched in July, 3 months before 'Diwale', and it has around 11 million views. While the response to 'Dilwale' trailer was tremendous across all social media, looks like it is only going to get bigger with something new.
Rohit and his team has planned to release ‘Gerua’, a song that shows the most lovable on-screen couple SRK-Kajol in a never seen before chemistry. Both the actors have had great films with 'DDLJ' still running at Maratha Mandir, Mumbai. Farah Khan choreographed the song and it was shot in Iceland in extreme weather conditions.
We were fortunate to see this song a couple of weeks back and we were blown by Rohit’s take on Shah Rukh and Kajol’s chemistry. When we had asked Shah Rukh about Kajol he told us, “We have worked with each other and known each other since decades. We are like a family. We are one of the few co-stars who have repeated success after success, every film that we make. There was a strange bonding when we started together. To be honest, we are quite opposite apart from having beautiful eyes. I have done 7-8 years of theatre so I work with technique. She, on the other hand, involves feelings in her acting. We compliment each other. One thing that hasn’t changed is that she is so natural. She retained rawness and child like innocence in those twenty years.”
Here’s what caught our attention about the song
Romance
First things first! It’s not Sooraj Hua Madham. It doesn’t have the same melody and its not even shot in the same manner. That song was of a different league altogether. Rohit and Farah, understanding the pressure of making a love song around SRK-Kajol, have given their own take to the romance. It has nothing to do with what the pair has done in the past and there has be no attempt to recreate any thing. This song will have its own identity on its own. The two are ageless couple and one thing that won’t stop any filmmaker if they have Shah Rukh in their film. Asking him to do his iconic hand open pose. Yes, that’s there in the song. Manish Malhotra has designed Kajol’s costume and Shah Rukh’s clothes are designed by Aki Narula.
Location
This is the first time Rohit Shetty has gone out of the country to shoot any movie. He has more blockbusters than his contemporaries but always shot his movies in India. With Red Chillies as the producer, he has explored shooting abroad in areas like Bulgaria and Iceland. He did a recee of Iceland and later shot the song. The crew was lucky to have Northern lights while shooting and the VFX team has enhanced it. The visuals are stunning and sooner or later many makers will be queuing up to shoot at this location. Like in Switzerland, there is a lake name after Yash Chopra; Rohit Shetty too might achieve that milestone in Iceland. Who knows…
Tune
Pritam has composed the melodious track and at the trailer launch he had said, “I have been wanting to work with him ( Shah Rukh). I told him that I want to score for his film once. I did ‘Billu Barber’, but there he (Shah Rukh) was doing a special appearance. Doing a romantic track for Shah Rukh and Kajol is a blessing for any music director.” We will leave it to you’ll to judge the music of this song but after we heard it, we requested them to play it again.
