The superstar will be the highest paid actor after Rajinikanth in South India
Superstar Mahesh Babu is apparently charging Rs 25 crore for his upcoming film with top Tamil director Murugadoss. Produced by N.V. Prasad, the film will be a Telugu and Tamil bilingual and that’s the reason the actor is charging so much.
This makes Mahesh Babu the highest paid actor in Tollywood. In fact, after Rajinikanth, no other South actor has charged so much. Murugadoss is one of the most- sought-after directors in South India and he had also directed the Bollywood super hit Ghajini with Aamir Khan.
Mahesh Babu’s usual remuneration is around Rs 18 crore, said a source, adding that he was charging Rs 25 crore as it was a bilingual. The film may start at around April next year as both the director and the actor are currently busy with ongoing projects.
With Mahesh Babu’s last film Srimanthudu collecting more than Rs 100 crore, the scope of Telugu cinema has increased. “The budget of the upcoming film with Murugadoss is also high, more than Rs 100 crore. The script is amazing and they are trying to rope in Alia Bhatt for the female lead,” says the source.
