Hyderabad: Cyberabad police says that terrorists and criminals are purchasing SIM cards using fake ID cards from city SIM card dealers. The police has issued an order asking dealers to conduct thorough document verification before giving SIM cards. The dealers will also have to submit details whenever police approach them. Commissioner C.V. Anand warned dealers of of strict action if they ignore police orders.
“It was found that in the terror attacks that took place in Hyderabad terrorists had used SIM cards acquired using fake IDs. Many criminals had also used such SIM cards. So it is important to verify a customer’s identity documents, said Mr C.V. Anand in his latest order.
“PAN cards, driving licence, ration cards, Aadhaar and voter ID cards must be verified when customers submit it,” he said.
"The documents should also be preserved,” he added.
The commissioner said that not only terrorists and criminals but even pranksters are making hoax calls putting cops in difficulty after buying SIM cards using fake IDs.
