RSS wing, Swadeshi Jagran Manch says no to FDI push
New Delhi: After the Congress raised objections to the Narendra Modi government’s decision to further liberalise FDI norms in a big way, the Swadeshi Jagran Manch, that is affiliated to the RSS, has also come out into the open against the move.
The SJM had earlier thrown its weight against the government’s move to push for amendments to the Land Acquisition Bill. The government last week further eased FDI norms in 15 key sectors, in an effort to boost investor sentiment and the economy.
The SJM on Sunday demanded that this move be put on hold. The RSS affiliate accused the Centre of acting in haste to ease FDI norms in 15 sectors.
The Congress had Friday said the party would oppose the government’s dec-ision to ease norms for FDI in defence. Mr Anand Sharma said the Congress opposed it as it would do away with safeguards.
The SJM demanded a white paper on the benefits and drawbacks of FDI. It said a commission comprising stakeholders sho-uld be set up to examine the issue. It said the Centre’s “Make in India” initiative should be more a “Made by India” one.
