Hyderabad: Balaji Grand Bazaar owner Ramesh Chand Agarwal who was allegedly kidnapped on Saturday night, was released by his kidnappers. The kidnappers pretending to be commuters, intercepted his car and kidnapped him, while he and his brother’s son Pramod were driving back home. The kidnappers stabbed Pramod twice and left him, while they fled with Ramesh.
Ramesh Chand Agarwal, 60, the owner of retail chain Balaji Grand Bazaar and his elder brother’s son Pramod Kumar Agarwal, closed the outlet at Basheerbagh and started for their home in Narsingi area in their car. Pramod was driving the car and Ramesh was sitting next to him. When their car reached Nenkampuri at around 11 pm, a car intercepted them. Ramesh got down from the car to check with the unknown people, who got down from their car.
“Fearing a threat Pramod also got down and came to them. The unknown men stabbed Pramod on his right shoulder and right leg and pushed him aside. They forced Ramesh into their car and drove away.,” said Narsingi inspector P. Ramchander Rao.
Pramod who was injured drove his car and reached the police station in a semi-conscious state and was later taken to a private hospital for treatment. The kidnappers made Ramesh Chand Agarwal sit on the car’s floor and drove him around for nearly four hours.
“They took Rs 20,000 in cash from him and threw away his mobile while they were driving and left him near the Birla temple at around 4 am on Sunday,” the inspector added.
Based on a complaint from Ramesh’s son, Amit Kumar Agarwal, a case of kidnap, robbery and attempt to murder was registered. Police is investigating the case.
