This year, 2015, has seen unconventional cop characters in Tamil cinema —be it singer Vijay Yesudas who was seen in Dhanush’s Maari or Baba Sehgal, who was roped in to play a negative cop in Gautham Menon’s Achcham Yenbadhu Madama iyada.
The latest to join the bandwagon is anchor Gobinath, who currently hosts a popular talk show Neeya Naana on a television channel. Sources say that he dons khaki in the Nayanthara-Jiiva starrer Thirunaal, a village-based flick. Meanwhile, a little birdie tells us that he plays Pugazhendhi, an IPS officer. However, we haven’t got any official confirmation on this. When quizzed whether he plays a good or bad cop, sources tell us that it can’t be revealed as of now. Gobinath’s last big screen presence was the Jayam Ravi-Samuthirakani-Amala Paul-starrer Nimirndhu Nil.
