TRS leaders in firing line during Warangal polls campaign

Minister Talasani said that it was common for people to question ministers

Warangal: TRS leaders who declared that the victory of party candidate Pasunoori Dayakar was confirmed the moment he filed his papers for the November 21 Warangal LS bypoll are non-plussed by the ire they are facing at campaign meetings.

“It will be a walk in the park for us,” IT minister K.T. Rama Rao had said when the party began its election campaign.

However, locals are asking TRS leaders when their poll-time promises would be fulfilled. Some said the previous government was better at providing basic facilities to the people. The farmers seemed displeased at the minimum support price provided for cotton, a major issue here. At many places there were complaints that eligible persons were not receiving pensions. In the most reported incident, a cotton farmer hurled his slipper at Deputy CM Kadiam Srihari in Shyampet and asked what the TRS government had done for cotton farmers. In Parkal, local MLA Challa Dharma Reddy was prevented from campaigning by villagers at Pocharam who asked what he had done to redress their water problems. The MLA had to cancel his campaign.

Minister Pocharam Srinivas was questioned at Dammannapet, party MP Seetharam Naik at Wardhannapet and minister T. Harish Rao at Warangal. Villagers complained about water problems and the pace of the 2-bedroom houses programme and distrubution of three acres to weaker sections, TRS leaders claim the incidents are stage managed by the Opposition. Minister Talasani said that it was common for people to question ministers.
