Telangana lawyers peeved at KCR’s ‘failure’

The federation also decided to organise a dharna at Indira Park

Hyderabad: TS advocates are peeved with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for his failure to implement the promises made to the fraternity.

Mr Rao as a token of appreciation for their participation in the TS movement promised a Rs 100-crore corpus fund and other sops to advocates. However, promises made a year back are yet to be implemented.

Federation of Bar Associations Telangana president B. Konda Reddy said the advocates were upset with the government’s attitude towards their welfare and had decided to strike work on November 27.

The federation also decided to organise a dharna at Indira Park to pressurise the state for their demands. Advocates demanded a Rs 500-corpus fund, health cards to all practising advocates, house sites and stipends to junior advocates.

“Till date the promises have not been implemented. We met the law secretary and he told us that a welfare committee needs to be constituted to transfer funds,” Mr Konda Reddy said.
