Cops bust fake sauce factory in Vanasthalipuram

Seized material is worth around Rs 2.6 lakhs

Hyderabad: Police on Saturday evening raided a sauce manufacturing unit in Vanasthalipuram area and seized 5,225 liters of adulterated sauce.

Officials said that M. Ravinder, 32, was running a sauce manufacturing unit for the past three months at his house in Venkateshwara colony in Sahebanagar area. Nearly ten labourers were engaged in the unit.

Chilli sauce, vinegar and fruit jam were manufactured at the unit under unhygienic conditions and the unit was running without any trade licence and permissions from the Food and safety department. Based on credible information, a raid was conducted.

“In all, we have seized 1,075 cartons each containing five 5 litre cans including, sauce, vinegar and fruit jam used in bakeries. This is supplied to bakeries in the city limits with the name ‘MRV Manchi’,” said Vanasthalipuram Inspector Pushpan Kumar.

Cops found that each 5 litre can is sold at Rs 50 and the seized material is worth around Rs 2.6 lakhs.

A case under sections 420 (Cheating) and 272 (Adulteration of food or drink intended for sale) of IPC is registered and a hunt is on to nab the accused. Meanwhile, the police is investigating the case.
