Bike-borne trio robs techie at knifepoint
Bengaluru: Three bike-borne miscreants robbed an IBM employee at knifepoint near Jayadeva flyover in Mico Layout police station limits late Friday. The victim has been identified as Supradeep Battacharya, a software engineer and a resident of BTM Layout. The incident happened around 12.30 am when the victim was on his way back home.
Bhatacharya got down near Jayadeva Junction and was walking towards his home when the three accused on a Honda Activa approached him. They flashed a knife and robbed his wallet containing Rs 2,000, credit and debit cards and his two mobile phones and sped away.
The victim then approached Mico Layout police station and lodged a complaint. Based on the victim’s description, the police are verifying the CCTV footage from the nearby junctions around the spot where the incident happened.
The complainant told the police that he could identify the miscreants as they had not covered their faces.
Seven shops burgled
A gang of seven to eight masked men entered seven shops and committed serial thefts near Sathanur Circle in Kanakapura in Ramanagar on Friday night.
The police said that the gang gained entry into Cauvery Hardware, Jayant Jewels, Raghavendra Medical Shop, Chandru Wine Store, Shwetha Bar and Restaurant, an automobile shop and another shop and decamped with valuables. They broke open shutter locks to enter the shops.
“The incident took place between 1 am and 3 am and the burglars were suspected to be wearing monkey caps. They have taken away cash and valuables worth Rs 1 lakh and liquor bottles from the wine shop and the bar. They have destroyed CCTV cameras installed in some of the shops,” the police said.
The Sathanur police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the accused.
