Seetaram’s short film in competition
Among the few Telugu films being screened during the ongoing 19th Children’s Film Festival is the short film Aatma.
Directed and produced by Kothapalli Seetaram, the film is about Indian culture and how it started from the temples. “In India, there are many ancient temples for different Gods. Indians were the first to learn culture and tradition through these temples,” says Seetaram, adding that he has shown everything in the film with historical proof.
“From childhood to being an adult, there are many ceremonies like naming, first rice eating, first hair-cut, thread ceremony, education, marriage, etc. that are performed at temples.”
He has also showed how foreigners had attacked India and ruined temples to weaken the country. “I came up with the famous Jogulamba temple, Alampur, in Telangana along with the Ramappa temple and the ruins of the Warangal thousand-pillar temple,” says Seetaram, adding that the short film is competing in the Asian Panorama Competition.
His son Adisankaracharya provided technical help and his daughter Kamalasree gave voiceover for the film.
