Will pursue Collector’s initiatives: VKC Mammed Koya
Kozhikode: The Kozhikode Municipal Corporation council will take up the District Collector’s interim administrative committee’s initiation of pending projects and complete them as early as possible, said Mayor probable V.K.C Mammed Koya. He added that the initiation of the District Collector-led interim administrative committee to take up pending projects was a good model to follow.
“Those issues taken up by the District Collector are some of the major ones which need to be addressed. We will continue the process and do the follow up promptly. If somebody is doing something good, we should take inspiration from it,” he said.
However, V.K.C Mammed Koya, who is expected to be sworn in as the 22nd mayor of the Kozhikode Corporation on November 18, added that the district administration should continue the same dedication and promptness when the Council initiates action on issues.
“The revenue department and the district administration should help us in clearing various pending projects which are awaiting administrative sanction. Some of the road projects need land acquisition. So I would like them to help us in developing the city by implementing projects at a fast pace,” he added.
Kozhikode District Collector N Prasanth, who took charge as the administrator of Kozhikode Municipal Corporation on October 31 after the expiration of the previous council, decided to take up pending projects in the Corporation and also identified a 13-point pending project list.
He also inspected various Corporation properties and took strict action against the violators. One of the major achievements of the District Collector was the electrification of Anakkulam Cultural Centre which the previous council had ignored.
