Will improve policing: Telangana’s new DGP Anurag Sharma
Hyderabad: The state government on Friday chose 1982 batch IPS officer Anurag Sharma as the state’s director general of police. Mr Sharma had been the in-charge DGP of Telangana state since its formation.
“The government has selected Anurag Sharma as the Director General of Police (DGP) of the state. The file pertaining to the appointment of the 1982 batch IPS officer was signed today. The new full-time DGP made a courtesy call on Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao,” said an official release from the Chief Minister’s Office.
Talking to this newspaper, Mr Sharma said that he would continue his efforts to improve policing in the state with the ongoing reforms. “We will continue our efforts more rigorously to improve law and order and make the state a better place,” he said.
Earlier, the empanelment committee of the UPSC, of which Telangana Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma is also a member, had met in New Delhi and shortlisted the names of Ms Aruna Bahuguna (1979 batch), Mr A.K. Khan (1981 batch) and Mr Sharma.
