Warangal Bypoll: Congress, TRS leaders turn up the heat
A war of words has broken out between ruling TRS and Opposition leaders
Hyderabad: A war of words has broken out between ruling TRS and Opposition leaders as voting day for the Warangal Lok Sabha bypoll draws near. Commercial taxes minister T. Srinivas Yadav joined issue with the Opposition asserting that the bypoll was a referendum on the TRS government’s policies and programmes, even as Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir asked whether Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would step down if TRS candidate P. Dayakar loses.
“BJP chief G. Kishan Reddy says the bypoll is a referendum on the government. Yes, it’s a referendum. He should also tell Prime Minister Narendra Modi that it’s referendum on him. Congress has no right to criticise the TRS since it destroyed the state during its 40 year rule,” Mr Yadav said. Countering minister T. Harish Rao’s question to TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy if he would quit from his post if Congress candidate Sarve Satyanarayana loses, Mr Shabbir Ali wondered whether Mr Rao would quit as CM if the TRS loses. “Harish Rao has been targeting the Congress out of frustration. He apparently feels he did not get due recognition in the party. He has been making wild statements,” Mr Shabbir Ali said.
