Microsoft starts ‘create to inspire’ programme in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: Microsoft India launched ‘Create to Inspire’ at the RBM Upper Primary School in Daba Garden here on Friday. About 30 science teachers from 30 schools of the district were provided hands on training under Andhra Pradesh Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan department. SSA project officer Mr T. Sivaramprasad attended the programme as the chief guest.
The education department is in the process of implementing the above programme in Nellore, Kakinada, Vijayawada and Kurnool district in the next fortnight. Speaking on the occasion, head corporate communications, EZ Vidya Private Limited and Resource Person D.I. Sundar Raj, apprised participants on the need to inculcate 21st century skills like collaboration, critical thinking, societal responsibility in their teaching learning process and advised them to observe impact of on ‘student-learners’ as one of their focal point of their work.
The challenge for education in the 21st Century is to create an education approach that is agile, adaptable and in-tune with the lives of students outside the classroom and their future employability. The programme consists of three phases spread over six months. In the first phase of the programme, teachers from the participating schools shall be trained and given a tool kit containing 14 exercises developed for students on the themes of biodiversity, energy, waste, transportation, water, food, environmental careers, and environmental activism.
